Beauty and the Beast
Thursday, July 24 at 7:00 pm
The familiar fable of the fearsome Beast is woven into a new tale of magic and revelation when a young girl must decide if she'll sacrifice her own life in order to save her father. What is it that really prowls the dark, echoing halls of the mysteriously opulent palace? Story and reality coalesce and dissolve in this ensemble exploration of self, surface, otherness, and beauty while delving into the very essence of the happily-ever-after.
Anyone Can Whistle
Friday, July 25 at 7:00 pm
In a bankrupt town that’s falling down around itself, the citizens are getting restless. In a desperate attempt to keep their love, Mayoress Cora Hoover Hooper and her devious assistants concoct a plan to keep the town under control. But when the idealistic Nurse Fay, her “cookies” (residents of a local insane asylum), and a mysterious stranger Hapgood turn up, all plans of control are thwarted as the very ideas of sanity and order are called into question.

What is Summer on Stage?
Summer on Stage is a five-week intensive training program that culminates in fully realized productions performed on the main stage at the Temple of Music and Art. Arizona Theatre Company staff and professional teaching artists selected by ATC lead students through a variety of theatre classes that contribute to an experience that prepares young people for a creative and engaged life in the arts or in any field!
Summer Backstage participants, in addition to their class work with their Summer on Stage peers, will be mentored by ATC staff and guest artists in hands-on workshop sessions that will prepare them to assist in the build and load-in of our set(s), as well as for a spot on the backstage crews for our productions.
The first week of Summer on Stage is devoted to community building and audition preparation; we cast our shows by the end of that first week. The next two weeks of the program are split between morning class work and afternoon rehearsals. Our final two weeks are spent in full-day rehearsals onstage and in our rehearsal hall as we incorporate all of our technical elements – set, lighting, costumes, sound, and props – on our way toward our celebratory evening performances at the end of the program.
