Headed by Artistic Director David Ira Goldstein, the Artistic Department of Arizona Theatre Company oversees auditions, casting, director selection, season play selection, new play commissions and new play awards. Through relationships with theatre artists of the highest caliber on the international, national and local level, Arizona Theatre Company Artistic staff helps to bring world-class theatre to our stages in Tucson and Phoenix. Arizona Theatre Company has been home to countless award-winning productions, artists and plays.
ATC produces a six-play season of plays and musicals and may also present additional events throughout the season, such as the 2010-2011 season’s presentation of The Acting Company/Guthrie Theater’s Romeo and Juliet.
Additionally, the Artistic Department advocates for the development of new playwriting talents by coordinating the National Latino Playwriting Award and the Arizona Playwriting Award, and through its latest program, Café Bohemia, a season of play readings, jams and ideas, featuring diverse new works from bold and inventive playwrights.
