About Mark Rothko

“Rothko’s entire personal life was haunted by his constant battle with depression, which many consider to be an undiagnosed case of bipolar disorder... He won several acknowledgements throughout his career, but acclaim never seemed to bring him happiness.”

Where in Arizona Can You See a Rothko?

The list of places where one can see a Rothko in Arizona is, admittedly, small.  There are, nonetheless, opportunities to experience the art of the master in our state.

The Seagrams Murals

"Rothko actually painted 30 murals, though the restaurant would only have had room for seven.  The collection was subsequently split up and now resides in three museums:  The Tate Modern in London, Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC."

Plays About Artists and Art

"What writer can resist the often torrid and tempestuous lives of geniuses who have lived before them?"
