2017 / 2018 SEASON
The season ahead is chock-full of surprises to transport you out of the humdrum of the everyday.
We begin our 51st season with Chapter Two, Neil Simon’s semi-autobiographical comedy about a recently widowed writer and his new lady love, written as a tribute to Mr. Simon’s second wife, Marsha Mason – and Ms. Mason herself will be returning to ATC to direct the show! Then, you’ll be romanced by our long-awaited production of National Latino Playwriting Award-winner The River Bride: a heartrending tale of true love, regret, transformation, and the struggle to stay true to your family while staying true to yourself. Next, you can “dream the impossible dream” with our exciting new flamenco-influenced production of the Tony-winning favorite Man of La Mancha.
The spring half of the season begins with Outside Mullingar, a romantic comedy set in the farmlands of Ireland and penned by John Patrick Shanley, the author of Doubt and Moonstruck. Then, the creative team that tore down the house at ATC with It Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues (2003/2004) and Love, Janis (2006/2007) turns up the heat with a uniquely rousing, raucous musical event in Low Down Dirty Blues. We’ll finish the season with one of the most powerful and moving stories of the 20th century: The Diary of Anne Frank.
